Indian Lands Court Decisions

Indian Land Professionals deal with a multitude of federal rules regarding Indian Lands on a daily basis.  These rules come from the many federal statutes and federal regluations that apply to Indian Lands.  Most of these federal statutes and regulations were either produced, or copied directly, from Indian Lands Court Decisions.  Therefore, a key to gaining a thorough understanding of the federal rules regarding Indian Lands--- is to understand the Indian Lands Court Decisions that produced these rules. 

In this course, we explain many of the fundamental principles and concepts underlying the rules found in federal statutes and regulations that apply to Indian Lands.  This course is specifically designed for beginners and non-lawyers.  We stick strictly to the basics.  We explain and use the "IRAC" method as a tool to reading and understanding Indian Land court decisions.  We review several key IBIA and federal court decisions that are the basis for federal rules regarding Indian Lands.  Students participate in case studies that build their confidence and understanding in working in this area and enhance their professional development."
